Poem by Ken Ames, delivered at the memorial service, Johannesburg.

Created by Keith 6 years ago

Wendy

to relive in a haze

those far distant days,

old memories of Bournemouth that pass

of guiding for girls and Avonbourne class,

and learning to swim

Dad just threw you in!

The booble hat cossies,

the chines full of mossies,

on days in the sun

cliff lift rides were fun.

Remember your piano

we all used to play,

you practised your points and plie.

Staff nursed on the ward,

then next went abroad,

and a media world

saw your future unfurled,

where you worked right on thru',

so we say

well done you.

Unlike Miss Simone,

and she was not joking,

stop the show, Nina moaned,

‘Who's out there? Stop smoking!’ (Wendy).

So from all of the Ames,

Geoff, Olive, Ken, Janet, Keith and Howard aka Bob,

to Wendy with blessings

on your earthly release,

with all our best wishes

may you now rest in peace.
